In brief: Alternative ?

Maybe not alternative, but i think it is standard practice to use conventional behavioral therapy and sometimes hypnosis for trying to raise your pain threshold.

In brief: Yes

There are several alternative therapies for pain management ranging from acupuncture, physical therapy, chiropractic medicine, relaxation therapy, meditation, exercise, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Best place to start would be a consult with a pain management center.
