The uterus can lean forward (anteverted) or backward (retroverted).
Asian women tend to have rv while us women tend to have av uterus. In rv uterus, the uterus points to the ground during sleep, thus allowing menstrual blood to accumulate inside the uterus to eventually spill into the pelvis via the the tubes leading to endometriosis. However, not all women with a rv uterus have endometriosis.
