In brief: Not really

Cosmetic dentistry only improves the appearance of the actual teeth.
However, patients may want to show off their pretty new teeth afterwords and deliberately have a gummy smile:).

Cosmetic dentistry can include reshaping of the gums with a laser in some cases to restore the harmony in the tooth/gum relationship. Some cases require more extensive surgery to remove gum an a bit of jaw bone.

Placing veneers and/or crowns will not add gum tissue, that will stay the same. Your cosmetic dentist will be able to talk about some gum procedures that are options, just as Dr Kattuah mentioned.

A "gummy smile" occurs when the lips rise above and below the gum line exposing too much gum. There are several fixes for this condition.
You should consult with your dentist.

If someone shows a lot of gums while smiling, this can be considered unattractive.
Cosmetic dentistry encompasses a wide area of whatever is done to improve someone's smile, but would not cause the issue. Elimination of a gummy smile is one of those cosmetic changes that can be done to improve your smile. Only a dentist with training and experience should be used to diagnose and treat this concern.

No. You are born with a gummy smile. This can be corrected through oral surgical procedures, periodontal procedures, cosmetic dentistry and even with Botox. You should consult a dental specialist to see which option fits your needs and goals

In brief: Gummy smile

To the contrary one of the goals of cosmetic dentistry is to address "gummy smile".
So, if cosmetic dentistry results in gummy smile one needs to have a heart to heart conversation with the dentist. This is an issue that generally is taken into account as part of the pre-case work up and addressed as one of the goals of the treatment.

In brief: Not usally

Cosmetic dentistry actually helps the appearance of crooked , stained or misshaped teeth.
Gummy smiles can be improved using a laser or minor gum surgery. Orthodontics (braces) can also help. More recently botox/ Dysport has been used with great results to improve gummy smiles.

In brief: Gummy Smile

Usually it's the opposite.
A gummy smile is the result of a short upper lip which could be caused by excessive protrusion of the upper teeth. A properly diagnosed case with gum surgery along with a cosmetic restoration can vastly improve the appearance of a gummy smile. Orthodontics could also be an alternative solution.

If you have a gummy smile to begin with you should see a dentist trained in restructuring the gums so you have more tooth to restore.
Some gummy smiles come from a condition called passive eruption which means the tooth has not fully erupted into the mouth. Simply lasering the excess gum may remove the gummy smile. In some cases surgery may be needed to remove some bone along with the gum.

Gummy smiles are changed through cosmetic dentistry.
Crown lengthening as well as Botox help with gummy smiles. You are trying to get rid of the gummy smile by using the cometic dentistrty and the above procedures.

In brief: Not normally

A gummy smile is generally considered unaesthetic.
So, the answer is no. There are procedures to eliminate, not emphasize, gummy smiles, like gingival recontouring and Botox injections.

In brief: No

People who have a gummy smile are born with a gummy smile.
There are a myriad of different factors that would make a smile "gummy". Cosmetic dentistry could only help a gummy smile and cosmetic dentistry would be employed to help fix a gummy smile. Treatment typically includes periodontal (gum) surgery and can also include reshaping of teeth (crowns, veneers)
