In brief: Question too vague

There are so many ways to injure the spine, and treatment/rehabilitation would be tailored to your type of injury.
There is no one size fits all answer.

In brief: What's your injury

It depends on the nature and extent of your injury.
You need to have appropriate work up done (xray or/and mri) to find out the cause of your injury and then your treating provider will be able to decide whether or not you need surgical intervention or not. If not, you may need physical therapy, home exercise therapy, spinal injections, tens unit, medications etc.
