once I get anxiety, will I have it for the rest of my life? (just like diabetes)

Possibly, not surely

Anxiety can persist with some people, especially when not treated. Exposure to anxiety-evoking substances such as caffeine and certain other drugs can be a factor also. Treatment involves not only preventive medications, but also psychotherapy and meditation. The potential to experience anxiety may remain, but it does not have to rule your life. Some anxiety may even be healthy at times!

Unlikely

Psychiatrist
Some doctors compare psychiatric disorders to diabetes or high blood pressure, as a way of arguing that patients should take medication even when they are feeling well, to prevent problems later. And also, that some disorders are lifelong — you have to learn to live with them. But anxiety is rarely like this: It's usually temporary, and it sometimes can be relieved for good with psychotherapy.

Anxiety is normal

Reminder/clarification to the excellent answers provided by my HealthTap colleagues already: ANXIETY by itself, is a normal human emotion that does not require treatment. I think your question is shorthand for "anxiety disorder," which is a problem that needs to be treated. Being able to experience all emotions really makes you human. A person with no anxiety would be abnormal indeed.
