My wife's breast milk production has greatly reduced after her levoxyl (thyroxine) been readjusted to 50 from 75. Is it possible coz nothing else has changed.?

Unlikely. Although Levoxyl (thyroxine) can have endocrine and metabolic adverse effects, such as menstrual irregularities, i doubt that your wife's diminished breast milk production is related. I was just wondering how can I increase my breast milk production?

Nurse often and pump. If you are trying to increase your milk production try to nurse your infant every 2-3 hours during the days, no more than 30 minutes of total feeding. After the feeding i would try to pump for 10 more minutes using a good electric pump. Make sure to drink plenty of water and eat well. Breast feeding is a sensitive supply and demand system and the more the baby demands the more milk you'll make. Read more...

As with other drugs, consider use only if benefits to mother out weighs any potential risk to the infant. Read more...

Can eating less calories foods decrease the breast milk supply?

Her body has plenty of stored calories for use in milk-making... Which is why breast-feeding helps a woman lose weight if she eats fewer calories than needed each day. Read more...
