In brief: Enough to tolerate

Temperature must be enough that you can tolerate it for several minutes (10 -30 min.
Without burning your skin. Do not go to sleep with heat pads, they may burn your skin and also produce fire in your bed sheets. Always check the manufacture recommendations if you have to heat on a microwave any pads.
