In brief: 6-8 weeks
If known to be only bruised, function usually returns in 6-8 weeks.
If partially or totally cut or crushed, surgical repair may be necessary.

In brief: Variable
Is the bruised nerve in the wrist, hand, or finger? As a general rule of thumb (no pun intended), the closer the injury is to the tips of the fingers, the more quickly a bruised nerve will heal.
If the injury is near the wrist or forearm, it may take several months or longer for nerve function to return. It is not uncommon to wait a year or more if the injury is close to the elbow!
