In brief: No ointment

There is no cure for gangrene, it usually requires surgical debridement and correction of any underlying circulation abnormality that may be contributing.
Diabetic ulcers in general are often treated with debridement, off-loading, and various ointments depending on the nature of the wound.

In brief: Diabetic foot

You need to seek care from wound center or podiatrist as soon as possible.
The evaluation of a diabetic foot ulcer requires a careful history, investigation of your neurological status of your feet, an assessment of the blood flow, and a comprehensive treatment plan that may include debridement, cultures, offloading (which is the most important issue most of the time), and testing. Do not delay!

In brief: Depends on the ulcer

There are a variety of wound care products available.
There are various types of wounds, each requiring a different type of approach for optimal healing. The type of product that one will need depends on the needs and type wound. Consult with your physician as to what would be best for you. Do not attempt to take care of it on your own as this may lead to unnecessary need for amputation.

In brief: Keep Dry

Diabetic foot gangrene / ulcers should be kept dry.
Betadine twice a day is inexpensive and effective as an antiseptic and at keeping the wound dry. For ulcers in the web spaces between the toes a simple alcohol swab between the toes 2x/day helps keep this area clean and dry. The goal is to prevent "wet gangrene". Bacteria love moist environments! showering is ok as long as wounds are dried after.
