In brief: Depends

Depending upon the degree of stenosis the typical time range to have the carotids checked is very six to twelve months with a duplex ultrasound.

In brief: Once a year

Typically an annual ultrasound is what is done for patients with known carotid artery stenosis / narrowing.
Sometimes when i first meet a patient and their narrowing is more advanced, i may shorten the interval to 6 months.
