In brief: scalp problems

Enlarged occipital lymph nodes may be due to problems in the scalp, which help to fight infection in that area.
Usually the cervical lymph nodes help to fight infections of the upper respiratory tract. If you have pain, swelling and redness of a lymph node this may be infected. You may need to see your primary care physician for further evaluation.
