In brief: Ultrasound
You need a carotid ultrasound.
If the ultrasound reveals that you have carotid stenosis of significance you might need surgery. If you have mild to moderate disease you will need to have an ultrasound on a serial basis typically every six months.

In brief: Depends on u/s
You will probably get an ultrasound of carotids.
Follow up will be determined based on what is found, in addition to your other health issues.

In brief: 6-12 months
The typical follow up for a carotid stenosis is with an ultrasound every 6 or 12 months.
This will depend on the degree of stenosis and the logistical issues of your local area.
