Arteries vs. Veins
Venous ulcers are usually due to venous hypertension (unusually high pressures in the veins for a long period of time).
They occur most commonly on the inside of the ankles. Arterial ulcers occur due to poor circulation or blockage in the arteries. These most commonly occur in the toes or the heels. Among other things, diabetes
affects the circulation in the toes and feet.
