In brief: Oral ketoconazole

If the topical treatments are not working, i often will treat patients with oral ketoconazole, 400 mg for 1 dose and repeat in one week.
I would also have your docotr check a skin scraping under the microscope to make sure that the diagnosis of tinea versicolor is correct. Lana long, M.D.
