The American Heart Association's recommendations for MVP was revised several years ago. Most MVP patients no longer need antibiotic prior to procedures that may cause bleeding like dental cleanings, periodontal treatment, extractions or surgery. However, your particular diagnosis of MVP, may require it. Consult your cardiologist to be sure. Find recommendations on AHA site or ADA site.
