In brief: Please clarify

If you are referring to living kidney donation, one needs to think about the risks of undergoing a surgery he/she does not need.
The living donor will have the psychological benefit of giving another person a gift of life. If you are referring to deceased organ donation (i.e. donating organs after death), everyone is encouraged to register as an organ donor.

In brief: Save a life vs. Risk

Live kidney donation is a big step to take.
It benefits someone else, not you. It saves that person's life. You accept alot of risk and the pain and consequences of a major operation. It is an incredible act of courage that should not be undertaken casually. Although the risks are low (3/10, 000 deaths), they are real. Please talk to a transplant center if you want more information. Thank you.
