What are some dangers of inhaling ammonia fumes?

Lung irritation. Ammonia fumes are very irritating to lung tissue and could lead to pneumonitis. Avoid breathing them.
Respiratory problems. Being exposed to high concentrations of ammonia in the air leads to immediate burning of the nose, throat and respiratory tract. This can lead to bronchiolar and alveolar edema & airway destruction resulting in respiratory distress or even failure. Inhalation of lower concentrations may cause coughing, and nose and throat irritation. Clearly it's wise to avoid exposure to ammonia in the air. .
