In brief: Quite rare

Viral meningitis can occur with a number of viruses and flu and seasonal epidemics.
However, once the body fights off such an infection, there is usually good immunity that develops. Some have poor immunity due to chronic disease. Some are just very unlucky and get another virus for which they are not immune. Just maintain good health habits.

In brief: Yes

There is no vaccine for the common viruses that may trigger meningitis.
(these generally self heal with minimal injury) there are several for the bacterial infections that are more likely to produce major damage or death. You can get meningitis to other different viruses /paracites/tuberculosis etc that are out there.
