In brief: Yes
Depends on the type of foot surgery.
Simple bunion or hammertoe surgery will not affect you as much as other foot surgeries such as reconstruction foot surgery. However, even with a bunion or hammertoe surgery you will need to adjust your running regiment until your foot swelling and pain subsides. Your doctor who is doing the surgery should answer and clarify this for you.

See dr kass' answer - well said.
All surgery is a compromise . However , it is being done to correct something. Follow the directions of your surgeon . Good luck.

In brief: It is possible.
Most surguries are performed to better the biomechanics of the foot.
However, no one can or should guarantee the results of any procedure. The patient must realize while the surgery should help the foot function better sometimes an outcome may not go as planned. So, it is possible, though we like to think optimistically it will work as planned.
