All surgeries have some pain, but the idea is to keep the pain to an absolute minimum. Hymens are not needed, so no surgery should be done for that.
Reconstructive surgery on the vulva or vagina can be done if something had damaged the area. One can interview 2-3 gynecologic specialists to get an idea of what is involved. Of course, the doctors will have to do an exam to see what the problem is.
