What does a scoliosis brace actually feel like. Is it easy to deal with?

In brief: Depends.
There are many different types of scoliosis braces.
Some are worn only at night. Some are worn day and night. Some are made with hard plastic on the outside and soft foam on the inside while others are made to be "flexible". In order for a brace to be effective, it has to correct the curve so there is some "pressure" or "squeezing" sensation. Most people get used to it over the first 2-4 wks.

In brief: Constraining
Most people hate their scoliosis brace.
As such compliance with wear is an issue. This is problematic because in order to be successful, braces must be worn more than 16 hours/ day. The more they are worn, the better they work. There are some clinicians who do not even believe in braces for this reason. It is our practice to brace moderate curves with growth remaining to avoid surgery.
