In brief: Apples and Oranges

Liposuction only removes fat, while a tummy tuck removes fat, excess skin and tightens the muscles that make up the abdominal wall.
They are different procedures with different indications and results. http://www.drmele.com/liposuctionortummytuck.html

In brief: Lipo with TT

You should discuss this with your board certified plastic surgeon.
Every case is different.

In brief: Together

The two are not interchangeable.
If you need a tummy tuck, liposuction alone will not give you an improvement. However, liposuction is commonly used to supplement a tummy tuck, thus giving you a better result.

Iposuction is better for body contouring.
Removing smallish areas of fat in stubborn places like "love handles" it does not remove excess skin like a tummy tuck does so it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Talk it over with your platic surgeon to determine what is best for you.

In brief: No

While liposuction may help by eliminating some fat, liposuction will not repair muscle or tighten skin.

In brief: Complements

liposuction may make the overall result look better in the flanks.
Or upper lateral abdomen. Sometimes liposuction can be done a few months prior to tummy tuck to prepare for it.

NO! Liposuction only removes fat NOT excess skin. Best to seek in person evaluations from boarded PSs or use the the Health Tap Vitual consult.

In brief: Sometimes

... meaning sometimes it's a useful tool to be used during a tummy tuck, Depending on the patients' anatomy.
The only time it's useful alone instead of a tummy tuck, Is when there is no excess skin or significant muscle laxity.

NO!! An Abdominal Lipectomy or Tummy Tuck removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and also tightens the mid line rectus muscles. Vs Abdominal liposuction can only remove fat layers with minimal skin retraction if any. They are worlds apart!

In brief: Very Different.

These are very different procedures with different indications.
The tummy tuck is indicated for removal of excess skin and adipose tissue as well as “tightening” of abdominal wall muscles that may have spread with pregnancy and/or weight gain/loss. Liposuction surgery, on the other hand, is indicated for treatment of localized adipose tissue, with good quality skin elasticity coverage.

In brief: Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck and liposuction are distinctly different procedures.
Liposuction removes fat between the skin and muscle, while a tummy tuck removes skin and tightens the muscle. Seek consultation with a surgeon certified by the american board of plastic surgery.
