Before beginning any physical activity stretching and conditioning exercises are recommended.
You'll want to do some easy stretching movements - particularly of the arms and legs for these two sports. Also, start slow and work your way up to an increased level of activity. It would probably be beneficial to ask advice on warm-ups and conditioning from whoever is teaching you the new sport as well.
