In brief: It's not standard
Standard western medicine does not incorporate accupunture into treatment of injuries.
First and foremost injuries should be treated by conventional accepted practices. On top of that, check with your physician if there are any contraindications. Many professional athletes swear by accupunture and other modalities traditional physicians do not regularly embrace.

In brief: Some.
Accupuncture has its place for certain types of sports injuries, but most of our patients are treated by Athletic Trainers or Physical Therapists for their rehabilitation.

In brief: Yes
Acupuncture is often used to treat sports injuries with excellent results.
If you have a fracture or injury that requires surgical intervention - the acupuncture may help with pain but will not cure the problem. For sprains and strains it can accelerate healing and treat pain. It is being used in the va and in the military for this purpose.
