In brief: Degree dictates plan

A "sprained knee" is not specific enough a diagnosis your recovery pathway.
A detailed determination of the actual structures injured and whether the sprain is mild, moderate, or severe will provide adequate information to prescribe a correct treatment algorithm in your case.

In brief: Rest

Rest, put as little weight on it as possible, use ace wrap or knee brace, apply ice to the knee 15 minutes on 15 minutes off, elevate your leg, take ibuprofen, if it is not contraindicated by any other medical conditions that you may have, usually 600 mg (3 pills) every 6 hrs with food for 5-10 days.

In brief: Rest

The most important thing would be to rest and avoid any exacerbating activities.
The use of ice, nsaids and physical therapy may help your recovery and prevent re- injury.
