How do you know if you are getting enough water during exercise?

In brief: Voiding

If you can void (pee) after exercise and it's pale yellow or clear then you are hydrating well enough.
Prehydrate (before exercise) by drinking 8 oz of non-caffeinated fluid in the hour before exercise. Generally take in 1 oz of water every 15 min (about a mouthful). Water is fine unless you are exercising longer than 2 hrs then consider taking in a small amount of carbohydrate and electrolytes.
