In brief: Oxygen and ROP
For premature infants, it is thought that the eye may develop retinopathy of prematurity, or rop, in relation to high levels of oxygen.
This does not happen to all premature infants, however. If your child is in the hospital as a "premie", ask to have him/her examined by a retina specialist or pediatric ophthalmologist for this possible disease.

In brief: Possibly
There is a condition known as retinopathy of prematurity that has been linked to oxygen supplementation in premature infants.
Neonatologists are very aware of this condition and babies born prematurely are routinely monitored for evidence of this condition by ophthalmologists. Treatment, usually with laser therapy, is available to protect the developing retina if necessary.
