In brief: Should be able

To eat fairly normally, eventually.
Early after surgery eat small, light, non fat foods. As you heal & feel better over a few weeks or less you should be able to return to eating all normal foods. Fatty or greasy foods cause some people to feel bloating, gas or diarrhea after surgery.
