Our eyes are designed to see things in 3d.
When you look at a computer/book etc for a long time (a 2d surface) you can strain your eyes or get dry eyes. Every 20 minutes rest your eyes for 20 seconds by looking at something at least 20 feet away.

But this is difficult to maintain.
We normally blink every 10-15 seconds, so it would be hard (and straining) to force yourself to blink 5 times more often. You may be better off using artificial tears every 30-60 minutes, stare off in the distance a few times every hour and consider an eye examination to rule out the need for computer glasses.
