What are some good ways to reduce eye strain and fatigue when playing video games and electronic devices?

In brief: Frequent breaks
When we concentrate on a vision task, we tend not to blink as frequently.
This can lead to dehydration of the eyes' surface, in turn causing strain and fatigue. Time seems to fly when we perform fun activities, such as playing video games, and even those without true dry eyes can develop strain. Your eyes are telling you that they need a break. Try to get up every 30-60 minutes and walk around.

In brief: Accommodation
Extended focusing at near (accommodation) can be uncomfortable if the focus range is incorrect.
Presbyopia or limited focusing range when we age can be solved with glasses. Other issues such as eye alignment (strabismus) can be an issue as well. The first thing to check is the glasses (refraction) and eye alignment with your ophthalmologist or optometrist. Dry eye can be an issue as well.
