What is it called when fluid builds up in the eye and causes damage to the optic nerve?

Glaucoma. Acute angle closure glaucoma occurs when the intra ocular pressure builds up in the eye when the angles are narrow and close off and this leads to optic nerve damage.
Glaucoma. That is called glaucoma and it is very treatable but best caught early. There are usually no symptoms.
Glaucoma. Increased pressure usually occurs due to poor drainage of the eye. This pressure pushes on the optic nerve causing loss of nerve cells and progressive peripheral vision loss. It is easily detected by an ophthalmologist.
