Usually there is no question as to having a hip fracture due to the pain and limitation of any weight bearing. There are some patients that may have a stress fracture of the hip which causes pain with walking or twisting. The best treatment is to obtain an xray as a starting point.

In brief: Pain

Usually it is severe and in the groin area.
Inability to walk is very common but not the case in every fracture.
