Prevent osteoporosis. Preventing fractures is done by preventing osteoporosis (bone loss). This is accomplished by calcium supplementation, vitamin d, and weight bearing exercises. Lastly, there are prescription medications that can prevent bone loss and aid in bone building. Speak with your doctor to see if you are a candidate for these prevention and treatment options.
Vitamin D & Calcium. You start losing bone mass in your late teens and that leads to osteoporosis and an increase in risk of fracture. A healthy diet including vitamin d and calcium, and regular exercise; including weight lifting and not just aerobics, are important for bone health. Avoid risk taking behavior.
