In brief: Age Dependent

The most commonly broken bone in those younger than 75 is the distal radius (a wrist fracture), with finger fractures very common as well.
After the age of 75 hip fractures become more common, but wrist fractures remain the most common.

In brief: Documented?

The nasal bone is the most commonly broken facial bone however it is my impression that far more toe (phalangeal) fractures are sustained but have been undiaganosed, undocumented, and untreated due to normal trauma sustained with stubbing your toes or sports injuries that are never seen by a physician.

If one is talking about a single bone, statistically speaking the most commonly broken bone in the body is the clavicle, commonly referred to as the collar bone. The most common fractures in people under 75 are wrist fractures, but the wrist is not made up of a single bone, but of 8 carpal bones. After age 75, hip fractures become the most common, but this makes up only a small percentage of the population.
