In brief: Careful exam + X-ray

See someone who can do a careful ms exam, including internal rotation of hips while seated.
If you have pain, probable arthritis. Make sure you point out where the pain is: your self-declared pain may be in your trochanteric bursa, your sacroiliac joint, or your piriformis muscle, to name just a few. A standing ap-pelvis should be obtained.
