In brief: 6- 8 weeks

Usually it takes 6 - 8 weeks to heal.
However, it may take longer to heal if there are complications, large amount of damage or dislocation, medical conditions of the patient, compliance of the patient.

In brief: About 2-3 months

Ankle fractures require bone healing which can take 8 weeks to heal.
Depending on what type of ankle fracture ie. Trimalleolar fractures, it may take an extra 4 weeks to heal especially of the posterior fracture is not secured with a screw. This timeline does not include any physical therapy which may be necessary to strengthen and stretch the joint and muscles and tendons surrounding the ankle.

In brief: 6 weeks

Ankle fractures usually heal over 6-8 weeks.
However, while the bone may heal in a short time the swelling, pain and stiffness may persist long after the bone is healed. This is because an ankle fracture is not just a bone injury it is also a soft tissue injury which always takes longer to heal than the bone.
