In brief: 3 months
The arthritis pain is gone immediately, but it takes about 6 weeks to feel better than you did before surgery.
Three months to return to all normal activities. I tell patients that it will be a year before you reach maximal improvement.

Most patients return to almost all activity by six weeks.
Complete healing can take three months or longer.

In brief: Varies by patient
Everybody recovers at their own pace after a total hip replacement.
Acute healing phase is 2-3 weeks. Do not try to overdo in the first 6 weeks, but gradual resumption of activities is encouraged the more dedicated the patient is to his/her recovery, the quicker it will be. Talk to your orthopaedic surgeon if you have specific activity related questions.
