Porous bone. Osteoporosis is the most common type of bone disease characterized by thining or loss of density in bones. It put you at risk for fractures, especially the hip, wrist or vertebra. This condition is diagnosed by a dxa scan (bone density scan). Effective treatments are currently available if you indeed were found to have osteoporosis.
Soft or brittle bone. Osteoporosis refers to softening of the bones of the skeleton. It is a silent disease, that is, it causes no physical symptoms, but increases the risk of a fracture of the bone. If there is a question of the diagnosis of osteoporosis, bone density testing would be recommended and treatment can be initiated. A healthy diet, with calcium and vit d, combined with regular exercise is recommended.
