I have allergies in the spring and fall. I tried nasonex, (mometasone) it gave me a chest cough. Singulair doesn't seem to be working. What else can I try?

In brief: Other options..

I would recommend getting a re-evaluation by your doc.
Steroid nasal sprays are frontline treatment and there are many available. Nasonex works well, but not for everyone--try a different one. Antihistamine such as zyrtec, allegra, claritin, xyzal, (levocetirizine) Clarinex with/out a decongestant can be added if nasal spray not adequate. Allergies can cause misery and i feel your pain. Consult doc. Good luck.

In brief: Several options

Allergy is treated in several general ways: avoidance, medications and allergy vaccine therapy.
Avoidance implies having allergy testing done to understand what one is allergic to. Medications include oral antihistamines, nasal steroids and anti histamines. Allergy vaccine therapy would be allergy shots.
