In brief: What type?
There is a long list of diagnostic possibilities for a joint swelling.
Analysis of the fluid of the joint may help.Depending of the cause, the treatment may vary. We start offering antiinflamatories or Acetaminophen topical or local ointments and some elastic support , local heat or cold. Injections of cortisone ( or short course of cortisone in pill form are good when there is no infection.

In brief: No easy way to heal
Arthritis, by definition, refers to loss of the articular cartilage within a joint.
Unfortunately, therefore, there is no way to "heal" your arthritis or its symptoms. The pain and swelling that are a result of arthritis can be treated with physical therapy, non-steriodal medications (nsaids) such as Ibuprofen or aleve, (naproxen) or cortisone injections. If arthritis gets severe, surgery may be indicated.
