In brief: It may not

Sciatia is a rather generic term for symptoms/trouble arising from injury to the sciatic nerve.
Depending on where the injury is, sciatica may go away on its own--i.E falling/trauma to your hip/thigh may injure the nerve which may heal in a couple of wks. If u have a disc herniatation pinging on it, it may wax/wane but not going away until disc is fixed. If u have trouble, consult doc. Good luck.

In brief: 4-6 weeks

Initially the symptoms last 4-6 weeks and if your body heals like it supposed to then pain relief starts.
However disc herniations which are the cause of majority of sciatica symptoms last for 6-9 months and therefore people can have pain during that time as well. If not better after 6 weeks see a spine specialist to evaluate this further.

In brief: Sciatica

It' hard to predict the duration. The duration depends on the severity of nerve impingement.
