In brief: See below

If the cyst returns again you are probably looking at surgical removal.

In brief: It was not removed

You already have aspirations, and recurring, have surgical removal , it is low risk out patient procedure.
Ask your doctor.

Sometimes the cyst attaches into deeper tissue or the joint.
Your may need to be removed surgically.

In brief: Trauma.

A ganglion cyst is usually the result of trauma, even many years ago.
As far as I am concerned it is a surgical lesion. You either leave it alone or remove it (with a chance of recurrence). Don't hit it with a bible! that is an old wives tale and will make it worse.

I think ganglion cyst has to do with "synovitis" an irritation of the bones.Until the irritation is resolved the cyst may happen again.Agree with the steroid injection.

In brief: Is ganglion painful?

If so kenalog( a type of cortisone) may help to relieve pain and inflammtion as well as possibly shrink or slow growth of ganglion.
Aspirations are often only temporary. Sometimes they are surgically removed. They are usually caused by excessive friction or pressure. If this is eliminiated the risk of recurrence is lessened.
