What conditions can actually be detected with a renal ultrasound scan?

Renal ultrasound. Renal ultrasound can find blockages of the urine in the urinary tract or bladder, blockages of the arteries the feed the kidneys blood, kidney size, kidney cysts (and polycystic kidney disease), sometimes but not always kidney stones, and kidney tumors.Since it uses sound waves to create images of the kidney, it is safe, but operator dependent and the images are subject to erroneous interpretation.
Kidney abnormalities. Any kidney abnormality which changes the appearance of the kidneys can potentially be seen with ultrasound.
