Reflux nephropathy occurs when urine is not completely excreted from the kidneys or bladders.
It can lead to mulitple urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis (infection within the kidney) or a hydronephrosis (fluid build up into the kidneys causing it to enlarge). If the reflux nephropathy is not corrected, it can lead to worsening renal disease and possibly dialysis.
