In brief: Sometimes

There are a number of options for interstitial cystitis.
Elmiron is the only oral fda approved medication. It can be helpful but does take time to be effective. Dmso is also fda approved but is usually provided as a bladder irrigation. Anti-depressant medications such as zoloft (sertraline) may helpful for some patients. Typically the best approach is muti-modal therapy. Check with your provider.
