Increasing dietary fiber (fruits, veggies, or supplements) along with plenty of fluid may help (takes couple days, so hang in there); stool softener also beneficial; try to avoid laxatives or frequent enemas as body can become dependent on them. Although a zinc deficiency can cause constipation, too much zinc can do this as well. 50 mg or more a day is more likely to cause constipation, though usually it won't do so until you are taking more than about 60 mg a day.
