In brief: Gap

Maybe.
Visually things may appear different once the gingivectomy is done. If you're concerned about this, consider closing the gap first and then do a gingivectomy.

In brief: Depends on Size

Gingivectomy means removal of gum tissue.
If you have a gap between the teeth, the space may become bigger initially, but some spaces are caused by the pressure of the swollen gums & periodontal disease. If this is so, the space may get smaller with healing. If you have a open triangle between the teeth, it may get larger. Some dentists can treat this with soft tissue graft or dermal fillers.
