Can carbohydrates and/or lipids turn into lean muscle mass if you're working out?

It's complicated... There is not a clear answer to your question. Lipids and carbs can be broken down in a way that they are used to create some Amino Acids in your body (those considered to be 'non-essential'). But you still need to eat protein to provide your body with other Amino Acids (those considered essential) that your body can't create. These Amino Acids are linked together to create lean muscle mass.
