Does dry eye affect 1 eye or both? If only 1 eye - why? I 've heard people who have worn contacts are at risk but don't we wear contacts in both eyes?

In brief: Usually both

Dry eye syndrome usually affects both eyes although sometimes not to exactly the same degree.
Instances where it can affect one eye are when there are problems affecting one eye lid resulting in increased evaporation of tears.
