Will Need Medication. Unfortunately, you need a medicinal shampoo to kill off the lice and their offspring. However, there are many over-the-counter products to choose from. The key is to get rid of the eggs and/or kill off the hatched offspring before they get a chance to reproduce. Try heat treatment. Only if they make you want to kill yourself! Standard treatment involves using shampoos that contain insecticides, but one can also use essential oils to kill lice. But this treatment is cumbersome and treatment failures are not unusual. A new treatment that is quick, easy, non-toxic & has high success is using heat.
